CST calls on regulator to clear 4G launch in Sao Tome and Principe

São Tomé and Principe’s incumbent provider Companhia Santomense de Telecomunicacoes (CST) has disclosed that it is awaiting clearance from the country’s regulator to deploy 4G services.

According to TeleGeography, CST has confirmed that it is ready to deploy LTE services across the country, and that it submitted a request to launch a 4G trial network on 1st March 2021. However, regulator AGER (Autoridade Geral de Regulacao) has not yet responded.

In a statement, CST asked for AGER’s approval, saying “all parties should focus on the implementation of 4G as soon as possible and not continue to delay it for reasons of procedural or bureaucratic forum.”
